Time Vampires
Psalm 39:4-5 O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days;,let me know
how fleeting I am! 5 Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as
nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath!
Ephesians 5:15-17 look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the
best use of the time, because the davs are evi. Therefore do not be foolish. but understand
what the will of the Lord is.
I have found that time is one of the most precious gift's that God has given us, and one of the ones we waste. And even though the scriptures tell us to use our time wisely and to make the
most of it, those messages just fail to move us, and so time becomes the victim of neglect,
abuse or waste.
So what would happen if we decided to really work at redeeming the time we have, to use it in
ways that are impactful, purposeful and eternal. To think about how we could grow our faith, or serve others. What if we declared that my life matters, and therefore my time matters, and God has to direct how I should use it?
What if the time vampires in my life - those things that suck up my time and waste it- are
eliminated. What if I purpose in my heart to honor God with my time. And I put together a well
created plan to use this gift for it's intended purpose: To glorify God, to love, serve,
and encourage people, and to make eternal impact. What if we all gave our time back to God, and we all stated "Here we are Lord use us, send us!"
What if time became a partner with each of us, to accomplish the work of the Gospel, what impact might we see from the work of time well spent.
Now I'm not saying that time is only for others, it also for us and we are to also use it to rest, to meditate, to enjoy, but those things must also be redeemed. And then we will find that time well spent on ourselves will produce in us a richer and deeper satisfaction, it will accomplish the rest and intimacy in God that we truly need.
So do the work, let's get rid of the time vampires in our lives, and watch what God will do with us as we Honor him win the time he has given us.
