Letter from the Pastor's

by on November 25, 2019

Dear TBC Family,

As you may have heard there are a few changes on the horizon as we enter into 2020.  We have a deep desire to grow well and have been asking God to direct us as we enter a new year.  The past several months have been a time of prayer, wrestling, and reflecting for us as an elder team, as we have seen the joys and struggles that have come with our growth.  We realize we have succeeded in some areas and failed in others.  We want to learn from our mistakes and continue to follow God and not run ahead of Him.  We love you and want to serve you well as your leaders.  Please forgive us for the times when we have failed you, that is not our heart or our desire. Continue to pray for us.  We need your prayers!

As we move into 2020 here are some of the changes you will be seeing…

  1. Strasburg Changes

We will no longer be doing a 3rd Sunday morning service in Strasburg.  November 24th will be the last Sunday morning service at Strasburg High School.  Over the past year our pastoral staff has been stretched thin reaching across 3 services at 3 different locations on a Sunday morning and in talking to you, our congregation, we have heard you have shared this feeling as well.  Our central staff leadership team clearly felt and saw God move to open the door for a Strasburg location and we do not feel like the Lord has closed that door for having a service in that area.  Currently, there are some building opportunities in Beach City that we are exploring.  We will be launching a Saturday night service in January that will likely start at our New Philadelphia location with the plan to move to Beach City when a space to have a service is finalized.  This will allow our pastors to be more present in the Baltic & New Philadelphia locations on Sunday mornings.  Our Saturday night service will be at 6pm and will have an outreach focus.  It will be a great opportunity for our church body to invite those who may not be comfortable coming to a Sunday morning service to experience a Christ-centered community with a gospel focus.

2. General Fund Focus

You all have been an extremely generous congregation and because of this, we as a church have been able to fund building projects, ministries, and missions here at home and abroad. We are excited to continue to do those things but our general fund has become unhealthy as we have grown and expanded. In 2020 we want to solidify our general fund and financial foundation so that we can continue to grow and accomplish the mission of the church.

3. NP Building Timeline

As you may know, we have purchased a building in downtown New Philadelphia and have been working with the current tenants to figure out a timeline for them to move out and our remodel to begin.  One tenant has found another location and has moved while the other one is still searching to find another location.  We have decided to allow her to continue to rent through April which would allow us to start remodeling in April/May with the plan to move into the building by September.

Mark your calendars for two upcoming dates.

Wednesday December 4th - Pastors Forum - 6:30pm @ Baltic location
Learn more about our church, pastors, and the upcoming changes.  You will have the opportunity to ask our pastors questions and learn more about the direction of TBC.

Sunday December 8th - Celebration Sunday - 9:30/10:30 @ Ohio Star Theater
This is our annual service where all of our locations come together.  At 9:30am we will discuss the state of our church and propose a budget for the upcoming year.  It is your opportunity to come learn and ask questions about the church budget and other areas of ministry.  At 10:30am we will have our worship service.
